Old Town Ward Co-Option Vacancy

Bridlington Town Council has a vacancy on the Old Town Ward due to the death of a Councillor. In pursuance of the Representation of the Peoples Act 1985 s21(2)(a) the vacancy can be filled by co-option. If you would like to be considered to be a Town Councillor, please write a letter of interest outlining the reasons why you would make a valuable addition to the Bridlington Town Council to:

Applications to be a considered MUST be with the Bridlington Town Council by Tuesday the 7thApril 2026, the Co-option process will take place at the Full Council meeting on Wednesday 15th April 2026

To be a councillor you must fulfil the following criteria on the day of nomination:

  • over 18 years old
  • a UK, EU or Commonwealth Citizen
  • registered to vote in the locality
  • living or working in the area for one year

You cannot be a councillor if:

  • you work for the Town Council
  • you are bankrupt
  • you have served a prison sentence (including suspended sentences) of three months or more within the last five years
  • you have been disqualified under legislation relating to illegal or corruptpractices.
